Christmas is almost here! Hope everyone is ready!
Just popping in with a quick post for Jo’s Gifted Gorgeousness (you can see everyone else's posts over at Jo's HERE).
As it’s almost Christmas there is one more Christmas tune I really love ...... Wizzard! I was especially pleased to find it doesn’t have an advert before the music starts!
Yay I have a finish!
This is quite appropriate for Christmas, in one way ..... because I think this little gift was something I received for Christmas at least 20 years ago!
Do you remember me saying recently that I thought I'd destroyed this piece!
..... when I cut the fabric too close to the stitching .....
But look, I got lucky! The stitching went well and, surprisingly, the edges didn't fray! Phew!
Now I just don't want anyone to touch ..... the fabric was just beginning to fray as I finished stitching |
And, its almost "Squirrel time"! Tee hee!
As it happens we have a white squirrel visiting us these days:
He's quite elusive and hard to capture on "film"! |
Some days he looks better than others! |
So this little piece of stitching falls under the categories of Gifted Gorgeousness because it will be a gift for one of my friends from my handicraft group, it is also one of those squirrel projects ..... one of those projects that makes you drop everything else until its finished. (I'll be linking this post to Menopausal Melon's DReaMi squirrel party shortly)
This was meant to be a pincushion ..... but I'm not sure I can stop myself turning it into a teeny tiny bag to hold a pincushion!
The skinny pinnie is just posing here, there will be a specially made pincushion for this little bag |
This little bag (or pincushion) is probably smaller than you would think looking at my photos! It finishes at 9 cms tall, 13 cms if you include the handles and 7 cms wide (3 1/2", 5" and 3" approx).
I seem to be in Pincushion making mode just lately, which is probably why I'm joining in with Bea's pincushion swap over at "Beaquilter".
Perhaps you'd like to join in? Not sure when the closing date is but you can read all about it Here.
Must go, duties to do!
Have a Super Christmas all, and I hope to "see" you again in the New Year.
Thank you for popping by, and thank you so much if you are leaving a comment too!
Many Hugs,
Barbara xxx

Happy Christmas Barbara! So glad you managed to get that little fob turned through safely - it is beautiful. Great little bag too. xx
Lovely stitching. I have never seen a white squirrel. How cool.
Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Barbara,
I think the piece you saved is gorgeous so I'm so happy it worked out for you. And your little pin cushion/bag is darling. Great job on both. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever
Hi Barb Merry Xmas my friend.
Oh i have never seen a white squirrel before,so cute.
Beautiful little bag.
The bag is so useful. Thank goodness you were able to finish your ornament before the fabric frayed too much. A white squirrel is a first for me also.
I wonder if the ornie would stop fraying if you were to run a little bead of Fray Check along the edge? Just a thought! An albino squirrel - that's not something you see every day! And your wee bag is a delight too. So sorry your machine is ailing - can it be fixed (I hope!!!).
What a beautiful squirrel. Good work on saving your stitching. That is such a cute little bag too.
A Christmas miracle of your own - the little ornament that could!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas, dear Barbara.

I had some issues with fraying once! I used tacky glue on them and I think the object is actually held together by hope hah. Your ornament turned out beautiful; love that blue!
The white squirrel is great too. I can never decide if albino critters are cute or scary. It must be the red eyes!
What a tiny and cute bag too. Shame your machine gave up the ghost randomly. Maybe she needs a break after all the tiny work. Sew a giant dress next, maybe one from the 1500s lol!
Good news you managed to save the stitched piece, it is pretty.
Love the little bag, so sweet.
White squirrel .... I just had to show DH, he's never seen one either!
Glad you managed to save the stitched piece.
I've never seen an albino squirrel before - he's beautiful
Glad to hear that you save your stitching. It turnes out very well. I´ve never seen a white squirrel He is so cute. :-)
Thanks for taking part in GG this month. Well done on managing to stitch the ornie with such a small margin!
The squirrel is so unusual, I've never seen a white one either.
O love your hanging cushion and I enjoyed seeing your white squirrel. I hope ou had a lovely Christmas and I wish you a very happy new year :) x
Great save!, it looks great!
That white squirrel is adorable, you got some good shots of him.
I love your pincushion as a bag!
Happy New Year!
Oh wow - I didn't even know white squirrels existed! Amazing pictures of him. Yay to your ornament surviving! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas x
So happy for your stitched piece. I'm looking forward to this year's pincushion swap. And you're on my list, yey. I've been in that swap for many years, but we've never been so many participating. Pure fun. Happy New Year to you! Hope it will be full of stitches, and that your sewing machine will work again.
Oh, I LOVE this ornament! So pretty! And I have never seen a white squirrel, how interesting! He's very pretty!
What a beautiful bag, Barbara. And I love the white squirrel! Happy New Year, my friend.
Lovely bag Barbara and great work on that pretty saved fabric. Hope you enjoyed Christmas and wishing you a Happy New Year.
I love your little bag! So sweet and pretty!
Finishing it by hand should not be too disagreeable.
Have a beautiful day!
