Gifted Gorgeousness - June 2020

Hi all,

Gifted Gorgeousness - run by Jo of Serendipitous Stitching - is our chance to show off stitched gifts (primarily cross stitch) we have given or received during the month. The sign up date is 15th, closing at the end of that month.  Visit Jo HERE to read all about it, and maybe "sign up" too?  And go here to see who else joined in this month.

This picture is the button provided by Jo to show we are joining her.

I only have one gift to show you this month.

Over on Instagram  Zoe Mayson (@zoemayson) offered her lovely scraps to make a hexie pincushion, and I was one of the lucky ones who won some of them, and since finishing it I fell in love with making hexagons again!

Hexie pincushion

After the pincushion one thing led to another and I found this lovely pattern for a hexagon needle book by Emma of Vintage Sewing Box. I have finished but I don’t think I have a photo of the actual finished item!

Since "lock down" started I’ve been stitching more of my Cocoa Sampler, (from Cross Stitcher magazine) and it’s getting pretty close to a finish now!

Cocoa Sampler
A reminder of how it was looking.

Cocoa Sampler
Now I've added the white stitches and the Owl is
finished except for the dreaded backstitch!

Cocoa Sampler
also finished the green and blue chequerboard pattern!
Stitched most of the white in the heading and now I need to decide what to do with the sheep - its too high up and some of the pattern won't fit in ..... its a matter of how to frog it!

Cocoa Sampler

I really like cross stitch but I only have two projects on the go. I want to stitch more but can't find anything suitable. I'm going to stitch a flower for Claire (Aimetu's Stitching) but I haven't found one yet. So there will be a few more cross stitch projects in the pipe-line.

If you are passing by on Instagram you can find me as @flashinscissors.

Hugs,
Barbara xxx

Es genial Bárbara... pero siento no poder participar...es una labor que no hago desde hace muchísimo tiempo.

Pero me gustará ver todos los trabajos de las participantes.

Tus trabajos son una obra de arte..el alfiletero exgonal es precioso.

I made one of those pincushions back in the day and haven't a clue what became of it...suspect it became a quick gift for someone. Your cross stitch project is looking great - so many fun motifs. Alas not much cross stitching or fine stitching for me for awhile until after I get my cataracts looked after.

The pincushion and the needle book are lovely. You have amazing sewing skills.
I will be stitching a flower for Claire's tree too, but haven't started it yet as our postal system is still not operating.

These are just beautiful stitching project Barbara! I used to love cross-stitch, and did a ton of it but then quilting took over. Did a little hexie work years ago too. I love that pincushion; you did a wonderful job. It was great 'seeing' you this morning!

I think hexies are just about as addictive as pincushions! hmmmm....wonder if there is a hex-a-long somewhere....lol....I love your work, Barbara.....the last time I tried to do needlework was about 20 years ago....I just don't have the patience for it but I certainly do admire the loveliness of it and I admire those who persevere and create the loveliness

Your hexie pincushion is simply adorable! I've been wanted to try hexies for a while now, I see people making such sweet things, but yours is the sweetest, the fabrics are beautiful.

Good progress all around.
Hexies are so useful, a bit like Lego building blocks. Love the pin cushion and needle book.
