Gifted Gorgeousness - August 2020

Hello my lovely blogging friends!

I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these strange times!

I meant to write last month, but we had a big storm here on 13 August.  That day I stood in our kitchen looking out of the window talking to the cat when lightening forked down towards our house! I suddenly wondered what I was doing standing there when I heard a small "pop" ..... that was the lightening hitting the telepjone lines leading to our house. We had no internet for three weeks while the repairs went on!

Still, we have our connection again now and so today I’m joining Jo’s Gifted Gorgeousness, where we share gifts given and received over the month. Read all about it on Jo's  blog hhttps://serendipitousstitching.blogspot.com/2020/09/september-gifted-gorgeousness-link-up.htmlere -

Darn, it's like starting at school all over again!!

This is a gift I received soon after “Lock down”, from one of my handicraft friends:
It is made in the method of EPP (English Paper Piecing) - i.e. lots of tiny pieces of material stitched together with teeny tiny stitches! You can just see the tiny stitches in the third photo.

NOT MY WORK

I felt so lucky to receive this present!

If you click on the photos you can see them close up, and you can just about see the stitches in this last photo!

Well this is my first post with the new Blogger system and I really don’t like it, and there are bound to be some odd things cropping up on my posts!

I wanted to show more photos but I’m afraid I might loose the ones I’ve managed to add if I try to!  Still, I’ll see if I can add them anyway, so if it looks funny you know why! No, I've changed my mind I'll pop back again soon to show you my latest cross stitch!

Hope you've had the chance to do some stitching this Summer and if you leave me a comment I'll try to come and visit to see what you've been making!

Hugs,
Barbara xxx

Oh, by the way, Jo of Serendipitous Stitching is holding her annual Halloween blog hop again this year - where we show our spooky stitching if we have any! Do pop over to Jo's to read what it's all about @ https://serendipitousstitching.blogspot.com/2020/09/september-wipocalypse-seasonal-stitching.html

It is nice to visit you again, after such a long time. The new Blogger is a bit of a pain, but I suppose we will get used to it. Your cushion you were gifted is fabulous, isn't it. So much careful stitching there. Gosh all those teeny tiny stitches.....it is lovely.

Hello barbara!
What a scare you would pass with the toementa!
Luckily it was only material damage that has a solution.
The cushion is gorgeous.
Some crafts I have done in this summer so strange for everyone.
I don't like the new blogger either.
Kisses from Spain

I know JUST how you feel - OUR internet was down for 3 weeks, due to a sloppy Internet Service Provider who provided NO service! and struggling with the new Blogger. I have heard no one say good things about the changes. It took me ages to find my way round the new features and I, too, lost pictures I had struggled to paste to the post.
Your cushion is fab! Lucky you!

What a gorgeous cushion your friend made for you Barbara. How annoying to loose your internet connection - and to have to wait so long to be reconnected! Looking forward to your next post - the new blogger is not so bad once you get used to where everything is. xx

BESOS

so glad you are back to blogging again and that only the lines were hurt by the lightening. Your cushion is such a lovely gift and so much work put into it. I don't like the new blogger either. Seems in their zeal to make things better they took away a lot more than they improved.

Me encanta este cojín, que colorido y alegre!!

Tampoco me resulta fácil el nuevo diseño de Google.

Besos.

We live in a neighbourhood with underground services. So damage to poles isn't a problem. Mind you, other odd things can happen because the wires all end up in a box together, and it's harder to identify which line is which.
Glad you are back online. Your pillow is lovely, such a wonderful gift, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Nice to have you back! That is a lovely gift you have received. I'm sorry blogger is causing you trouble. I've heard lots of people say the same. Hopefully they will improve it soon. I'm looking forward to seeing you back more now your internet is sorted out :)

That cushion is stunning.
We had a similar thing here a few years back when lightening came out of nowhere and struck the telegraph pole nearest our house. I was using the computer at the time and it threw my hand clear off the mouse! Glad you've got everything fixed now, it's surprising how many things it fries

Ooh what a gorgeous cushion! Glad the only damage was to the communication line though that would be so frustrating. Yes this new blogger is a royal pain in many ways.

SO glad to see your post. I'm in the mood right now that I'm not sure I would miss the internet. Gotta shake this off!! I don't much like the new blogger but admit that I am getting used to it. At first I had an issue with pictures too. For the life of me right now I can't think of the solution I found. The pillow is lovely. I think sometime in the future I'll give paper piecing a try. Thanks for the link to the hop. I LOVE Halloween.
xx, Carol

Thanks for taking part in GG this month. A lightning strike is rather dramatic and a long while to be without Internet. Good thing you aren't trying to work from home. We lost power for two hours on Saturday, luckily we have a generator for emergencies.
I delayed the change to the new Blogger and it seems very much like the original one. Certainly no issues adding photos.

Glad the lightening did not do more damage than it did. No internet for three weeks could drive a person crazy!! Luckily it was just the internet and not the electricity.

That is so cool! Looks like it is something that is precise like quilting. I love all the colors in it.

That EPP swirl is fabulous! I’m starting to get the hang of the new blogger but I do wish they wouldn’t change things,!
